1st Week, December 2015
7th - 1st December

    Monday, 7th December 2015

    Bible verse: 1 Corinthians 9:24
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

    Lesson
To be successful in running our spiritual race we should be training hard for the prize.
    1) What are we pursuing in this race?
    - Righteousness, godliness, faith, love, peace, comfort, mercy, endurance, prosperity.
    2) Which are the training tools?
    - Bible study, prayer, worship, praises, giving and love.
    3) What is the rewarding prize?
    - eternal life in heaven.

How you train is a deciding factor in how you compete and you are equipped to overcome the storms.
Brethren, in order to win the race, we need to, with endurance, train hard, be self-disciplined, be focused and run well.

    Prayer
Dear Lord, guard and keep me healthy on my actual, physical and spiritual runs.
Give me patience when I canít do all I wish to do, courage and perseverance to push harder and further in running the race in Jesus name

    Bible verse: Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us

    Lesson
We are constantly held back by too many weights that impede our progress and relationship with God; such like our unguarded mouth, habits, thoughts, unforgiveness, hatred, pride, disobedience etc.

David knew he will be hindered in his fight with Goliath if he put on the heavy armor of the king.
So he lay aside the excess clothing to run the race against Goliath.

What do you need to discard from your life so that you may run unhindered, successful race?
Then, let go of all the things that hinder you running the race.

    Prayer
Remove, Oh Lord, all obstacles and all unnecessary weights that are hindrances to my progress and relationship with you.
Grant me the courage to persevere in moments of weakness in Jesus name.

    Bible verse: Colossians 1:12
Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the
inheritance of the saints in light:

    Lesson
We are to be thankful to God for giving us the opportunity and grace to be partakers of the inheritance of peace, hope, joy, forgiveness of sins and His abundance mercy.
Thankful that God has delivered us from the power of darkness.

To buttress our thankfulness, we have to repent, turn away from every sinful lifestyle, love one another and be obedient to the will of God.

    Prayer
Thank you Lord to have changed my sadness into a joyful dance; have taken away my sorrow and surrounded me with peace and joy.
O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

    Bible verse: Job 22:21
Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee

    Lesson
The knowledge of God gives peace, because in it we find the satisfaction.
We are therefore to have a competent knowledge of God regarding His
    - goodness and mercy,
    - perfect purity and holiness,
    - almighty power,
    - will and promises,
    - infinite wisdom,
    - justice and faithfulness,
    - determination to punish incorrigible wickedness and disobedience.
We are to disengage our hearts from earthly pursuits and fix them on God, know Him as our source of joy and have Him to be the first in our life.

Surely, deliverance from temptations and evil ones, pardon of sins, peace, triumph and unmerited blessings shall be our inheritance.

    Prayer
Lord, I long for a greater knowledge of You and a closer relationship with You; give me a heart of deeper understanding of You and covered me with Your robe of righteousness in Jesus name.

    Bible verse: Ephesians 6:10
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

    Lesson
To be strong in the Lord, you must learn to trust Him completely, be obedient to His will without hesitation or doubt.

You may be at your lowest point, be discouraged or it may seem that God's promises in your life are not materializing; stand firm in the Lord.
It doesn't matter how strong the adversary appears, or how many there may be and no matter how much may seem to be against you, when you are strong in the Lord His divine power will give you all things that pertain to life and godliness.
God has promised to be your refuge therefore no power can defeat you.

David strengthened himself in the Lord when he came back with his men from a battle only to find the city burned with fire and their wives, children and possessions were taken captive by the Amalekites.

    Prayer
Whenever I am facing the inevitable hardships and enticements of life, help me, O Lord, to put my trust in you, be strong in you and grant me the confidence to rely on you as my strong tower in Jesus name.

In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion in Jesus name.

    Bible verse: Jeremiah 17:7
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

    Lesson
John F. Kennedy wrote: "Every area of trouble gives out a ray of hope; and the one unchangeable certainty is that nothing is certain or unchangeable."
    With God nothing is unchangeable.
It doesn't matter how hopeless the situation you are in or how deep the valley you are pulled into; there is always a ray of hope.

If you put your hope and trust in God with all your heart, declare your absolute dependence on Him, be obedient to His word and walk in righteousness; He will watch over you, direct your paths,
establish your going out and your coming in and bring you to the place that He desires of your life.

    Prayer
Dear Father, even when I am weary, help me to remember that I have hope in you.
Fill me, Oh God of hope, with all joy and peace in believing, that I may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost in Jesus name.

    Bible verse: Micah 4:4
But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.

    Lesson
If you succumb to the world and the growing darkness, then doubt and fear will begin to dictate your decisions and despair will causes you to loose focus and hope in the Lord.
But if you walk in righteousness you will be qualified to sit under His fig tree.
He will carefully lead you through the many traps the evil one has laid out to snare you and He will give you all the strength, wisdom and help you need to live out godly lives in difficult times.
You will be able to stand firm in the Lord and nothing shall make you afraid.

    Prayer
Thank you Lord for your absolute care, protection and love over me, my family and loved ones and allowing us to be a witness of the first day of the last month of this year.
I pray, Oh Lord, let me be filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God (Phi 1:11) in Jesus name.
