Communication with God
Communication in its simplest form is the exchange of information, personal rapport, between two or more people. It requires that the communicating parties share an area of communicative commonality.

Communication that builds relationships is dialogue. True and effective communication requires that the listener understands the sender's message and this process is complete once the receiver has understood the message sent.

Communication has to be two-way. A one way communication often leads to mistakes and inevitable frustration. Therefore we have to convey our messages in an understandable, trustworthy, confidential and non-judgmental way giving no room for assumptions.

When we communicate intentionally with God we know Him more fully, understand Him better, feel more at home in His presence, find cause to praise Him more, and have a deeper relationship with Him.

Talking to God doesn't build relationship. Communicating with God does both - speaking and listening.
God said to the prophet Isaiah, "Come now, and let us reason together" - Isaiah 1:18.

Communication with God is done with the help of prayers, reading the scriptures, worship and praises, faith, preparation of the heart, desires etc.

Prayers
Prayer is the key to a relationship with God. It is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God. Prayer has the power to transform our fear into faith. We come to God in prayer for a variety of reasons - to worship Him, to confess our sins and ask for forgiveness, to thank Him for His blessings, to ask for things for ourselves, and/or to pray for the needs of others.
Our prayer actually is an influence in itself; it has power and does things because God lets it. God empowers it to take effect.
Genuine prayer has all of the qualities and characteristics of a deeply meaningful conversation between two people. God has set up prayer as our method of talking to God

When you're in tune and praying to God with the right wave length or vibes on the right channel, He receives it and amplifies it and lets it do what you intend for it to do. It is as simple as when you turn your TV on, select the right wave length or right channel. The vibes you get off that station is currently the news they are been transmitted at that particular moment.

But the vibes you get off the Lord are all good things - blessings, comfort, faith, joy, hope, love, peace and praise. Nobody knows you like God knows you. Nobody loves you like God loves you. Nobody desires good for your life more than God. He is ready and willing to communicate with you. Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation - Matthew 26:41

It is written: "Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching". Hebrew 10:22-25

And Jesus gave us one assurance: "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." - John 14:13-14.

There are different forms of prayers.
  • Prayer of supplication: is asking God for something. It could be supplication for mercy, deliverance, salvation from persecution.
Psalm 4:1 demonstrated a prayer of supplication for mercy: "Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer".

  • Prayer of intercession:
This type of prayer is making requests for others as we intercede for them. We are therefore compelled to pray with and for others.
"Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him" - Act 12:15.

Jesus intercedes for his desciples "I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil" John 17:14-15.

  • Prayer of agreement: Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matthew 18:19-20

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. 1 John 5:14-15

This kind of Prayer involves two or more people joining their faith together and deciding to pray concerning anything in particular they desire or concerning any situation.
When these believers knit their hearts into agreement with each other in Jesus Christ and with God for answers, they have added a jumbo sized supernatural boost to their prayers. But they have to beleive that their pertition is heard, the request must be specific and they must pray in faith and in line with the Word.
God gave us this method so that we would be successful in our prayer life and it is not be used to simply arrange our life in the most convenient way or of forcing God to do things our way.

  • Prayer for consecration: Sometimes, prayer is a time of setting ourselves apart to follow God's will. Jesus made such a prayer the night before His crucifixion - Matthew 26:36-40.

  • Prayer of thanksgiving: With thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. When Jesus got to the grave of Lazarus "Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always" John 11:41-42.

  • Prayer for relationship: Finding someone to love can be difficult. Some who have experienced disappointment are broken hearted and find it difficult to trust and love again.
But it is written "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love" 1 John 4:18

  • Prayer of Faith: When we pray, we are to believe in the power and goodness of God.
Jesus answering said to them, "Have faith in God. For most assuredly I tell you, whoever may tell this mountain, Be taken up and cast into the sea, and doesn't doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is happening; he shall have whatever he says. Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them." Mark 11:22-24.

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him James 5:15.

  • Pray With Proper Motive: "You ask, and don't receive, because you ask amiss, so that you may spend it for your pleasures." James 4:3.
"And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition, as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need, before you ask Him." Matthew 6:7

  • Prayer of Obedience: Sometimes disobedience is considered a minor matter when it comes to prayer. It is useless to inquire of the Lord if unconfessed and unforsaken sins are buried in the heart.
"And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us." 1 John 3:22-24.
King Saul lost his reign over Isreal out of disobedience.

Reading the scriptures
The scripture is the Word of God. It is from the Word of God that you know His promises for you, His will and plan for you. My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips - Psalm 89:34.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chron 7:14

Prayerfully reading the Scriptures yourself is the only real defense against being misled. Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free John 8:31-32

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart - Hebrews 4:12.

Hundreds of prophecies of future events were recorded in the Bible, some of them centuries before fulfillment, and not one detail of any of them has ever failed!.
It is reading the scriptures you'll know the moral standards God has set for you. Some are impossible for man to achieve except with divine help. "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;" - Matthew 5:44

Preparation of the heart and desires
It is in the heart where we hold our beliefs about God. These beliefs control our relationship with Him. We cannot experience any aspect of God that we don't believe in! It's as simple as that.

The level of desire we have for a greater communication with God will really determine how much time we devote to hearing God's voice and examining our beliefs.

God does His work from the inside out. Men look on the outside of a person. That is what is evident and easy to discern. But God prepares the heart first. We know that what proceeds from the mouth has been prepared in the heart. Therefore once the heart of an individual has been prepared, it is evidenced by the answer of the tongue. The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD. Prov 16:1

It is written "For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh" - Luke 6:43-45
