Finding a Fellowship Center

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them - Matthew 18:20

This means the Lord is always with you even if you decide to praise and worship God with your family and/or friends without going to any church.

But the scriptures said.
I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee - Ps 22:22

Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee - Hebrews 2:12

We are compelled, therefore, to be in the midst of the congregation where the Words are spoken, testimonies are given, signs, wonders and miracles happen.

Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the last day approaching - Hebrews 10:25

  • Where can you worship?

    • Finding a church can be a difficult, time consuming experience.
    It often takes a great deal of patient and persistence.
    Moreover, you need to seek he Lord's direction who will give you wisdom to know where he wants you to fellowship.
    Let God direct you if the anticipated church is a place where you can connect with God and worship Him freely.

    Realise that the search for a church can drag out over a period of weeks and/or months.
    So, be sure to make prayer a priority each step along the way.

  • Doctrines and structure of the Church

    • The primary issue in choosing a church is DOCTRINE. What does the church believe? No matter how many exciting "programs" the church may have, if they do not believe the right things, then you have no business attending or joining. You are to attend the church of GOD'S CHOICE, not the church of your choice.
    It is important to understand the doctrinal beliefs of the church before joining it.
    Ask for a Statement of Faith and check it carefully. If one is not available, at least speak with the Pastor personally and get answers to the following questions. This concerns YOUR spiritual well-being. You have every right to ask questions. In fact, a genuine Bible-believing Pastor will appreciate you asking doctrinal questions.
      - What is the structure of the church?
      - Is there a place for you to serve in the church with the gifts the Lord has deposited in you?
      - Is there any opportunities to pray with other believers?
      - Will you be encouraged or discouraged to invest your gift to the benefit of God's kingdom?
      - Are people's lives being changed?
      - Can you make an impact in the church?
    The answer to every question should be a very definite "Yes." If the answer is "No" or "I'm not sure," then keep looking because there are better churches to join. A "Yes" answer to each question doesn't guarantee that the church in question will be the best one for you, but it does help you to guard yourself from many of the heresies in our midst.

  • What is the Church Doing?

    • In addition to finding out what a church believes, you should also find out what a church is doing.
    Many churches believe all the right things, yet they have lots of don'ts - women not wearing earrings, no tousers, no makeups to mention but a few.

    Christians need to grow from the word of God. Will you be feed with the word of God so you can grow spiritually? Note that activities alone will only produce carnal babies while sound preaching and teaching of God's word will produce mature Christian. Surely you don't want to remain baby Christian.
    Beware of churches which spend lots of time boasting about their attendance, their ministries, their offerings or who, what and when they have lead people up the ladder. Look for Jesus Christ in a church.

  • Do not forget

    • 1. There is no perfect church.
    2. Make sure you visit a church at least three times before making a decision either way.
    3. Keep in mind that the size of a church is very seldom an indication of its strength.
    4. Never make a decision about a church based solely on its size.
    5. Don't uproot yourself from and/or try to change a church without the instruction to do so from God. But keep searching until you find the right church that is good and fits you.
    6. Don't give up.
